Inherent in a comment like that is already the presumption that he is not afraid to scare you away with (you need to be happy with the little I can give you). Guys lose respect and don't fall in love with the girls that allow this. You can walk the line of showing him that you are worthy of respect, being a top priority and not being needy--but it's not easy.
