After about a week, I resumed the talk about her coming over and marrying me. Anna was very glad, yet seemed uneasy. I told her that moving to another country is a lot harder that it might seem at first, that she was bound to experience a culture shock and, maybe, even get depressed for a while. Along with the forms, she send a very sincere handwritten note about how much she loved me. On my end, I started to gather all of the necessary documents as well. I also explained to her that, before coming over, she needed to really brush up her English. Once she was in the US, I said, she would need to take at least one semester full time, studying the language at the advanced level and then be done with it for good; for that she needed to be fully prepared while still remaining in Russia.
